The x-axis plots the number of funder acknowledgments between zero and 1,200.  The bars are divided into 2 segments, which indicate the number of US funders acknowledged and non-US funders acknowledged.  The funder type with the most acknowledgments is Government funders, with 1,167 total acknowledgments, 550 of which consisted of US government funders and 617 were non US government funders. The next largest group is private funders, which received a total of 841 acknowledgments, including 495 to US private funders and 346 to non US private funders.  Universities accounted for the 3rd most acknowledged funder type, with a total of 188 acknowledgments, 94 to US universities and 94 to non US universities. Next, hospitals received 40 funding acknowledgments, including 17 acknowledgments to US hospitals and 23 to non US hospitals. Lastly, public slash private partnerships accounted for 27 funding acknowledgments, consisting of 5 acknowledgments to US organizations and 22 to non US funding organizations.
