Line graph. The y-axis plots the amount of ASD publications as a share of the world total, from zero to 80%.  The x-axis plots the year of publication from 1980 to 2010.  Six groups are represented by lines on the graph: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and the last line represents all other countries combined.  Across all years, the US accounts for the largest share of ASD publications, but its annual share has decreased from 75% in 1981 to 54% in 2010.  Groups with increasing shares since 1980 include the United Kingdom, which accounted for 1% of all ASD publications in 1980 and 15% in 2010, as well as all other countries, which accounted for 24% of publications in 1980 and 33% of 2010 ASD publications. Both the Netherlands and Italy accounted for zero percent of the world share in 1980 and 4% of ASD publications in 2010.  Canada’s world share of ASD publications has remained relatively constant, between 6 and 8% of world share for every year on the graph.
