Figure 9. Number and Fold Growth of ASD Publications from 2000 to 2010. Line graph and bar graph. On the line graph, there are seven lines, corresponding to the seven critical question areas of the IACC strategic plan. The y-axis is labeled ASD publication count by year. The x-axis displays years from 2000 to 2010. The total number of publications per year for all critical question categories increased each year. The category with the largest number of publications in 2010 was Biology, starting at 146 in the year 2000 and ending at 804 in the year 2000. The next largest category in 2010 is Treatments and Interventions category, starting at 79 in the year 2000 and ending at 408 in the year 2000. Next is the Risk Factors category, starting at 95 in the year 2000 and ending at 366 in the year 2000. The fourth largest category is Diagnosis, starting at 58 publications in the year 2000 and ending with 206 in the year 2010. Below the line graph is a bar graph which displays the fold growth values in annual publication output between the years 2000 and 2010 for the seven critical question categories. The highest fold growth value belongs to Infrastructure and Surveillance at nine point three. The next highest is seen in the Services category at six point nine. Lifespan Issues had the third highest fold growth value at five point eight. Next is the category of Biology, which grew five point five fold. The fifth highest fold growth value belongs to Treatments and Interventions at five point two. Sixth is Risk Factors, which grew three point eight fold, and last is Diagnosis, which grew three point five fold in annual research publication output from the years 2000 to 2010.
