Strategic Planning (SP) Workgroup Formed December 12, 2007
The IACC approved the formation of a SP workgroup at its meeting on November 30, 2007. The purpose of the workgroup was to facilitate the development of the Strategic Plan for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Research. The workgroup members included scientific experts, representatives from private ASD research funding organizations and advocacy groups, program officials, workshop chairs, and a subset of IACC members.
The SP workgroup helped organize scientific workshops to identify high priority research opportunities in the domains: Biology, Treatment, Diagnosis, and Risk Factors. The workgroup oversaw the process for selecting workshop participants based on diverse viewpoints and expertise. IACC members had the option to nominate workshop participants and to observe or participate in workshops.
