Redox abnormalities as a vulnerability phenotype for autism and related alterations in CNS development  

The overall objectives of this research effort are to: 1) understand the relationship between altered redox function in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the neuropathological changes found in these children; 2) provide enhanced means of studying these redox abnormalities and of identifying children who may be more vulnerable to physiological stressors of putative relevance to ASD; and 3) provide rational approaches to the effective normalization of these metabolic parameters.
