M.Ed. in autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) for teachers in the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS)

This project will train 25 teachers in the DoDDS in Germany with a Master's degree in special education and a specialization in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Without this program, the only option for these teachers to pursue this course of study (in English) would be to take unpaid leave to return to the United States, a significant financial and personal burden. Program activities include: (a) academic and social instruction for students with autism; (b) collaboration and co-teaching for teachers of students with low incidence disabilities; (c) supportive partnerships with families of students with ASD; (d) working with culturally, ethnically and racially diverse groups; and (e) preparation in services for students with challenging and disruptive behaviors.
