Project Connect: Connecting school districts with highly qualified teachers in low-incidence disabilities  

The project will prepare 60 highly qualified special education teachers in the area of low-incidence disabilities to address the critical teacher shortage in Southern Nevada and Northern Arizona. Graduates of Project Connect will receive a Master of Education degree in special education with an emphasis in mental retardation and autism. Training focuses on core academic instruction for children with low-incidence disabilities, ages 5 to 22, and includes field placements to provide opportunities for collaborative teaching in inclusive classrooms.
