Tennessee State Personnel Development Grant  

This project will conduct professional development activities in the areas of reading, math, and positive behavioral supports, all based on a Response to Intervention framework. The aim is to facilitate a statewide network of professional development providers to maximize the reach of professional development efforts. An early childhood component will focus on literacy and behavior outcomes for young children diagnosed with autism. A teacher equity initiative will identify and remedy existing inequities in the distribution of highly qualified special education teachers, ensuring that low-income and minority children with disabilities are not taught at higher rates than other children by unqualified teachers. Woven through the initiatives is a strong emphasis on collaboration with higher education, technology, and family involvement. Project Status
