Assessing a participant directed service system for low income children with ASD

The project evaluates the Massachusetts Medicaid Autism Waiver Program, which is a supportive services waiver program that uses a participant direction (PD) model to choose and manage services for young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. The evaluation seeks to: 1) assess how well participant-directed systems are implemented at each of the seven sites statewide; 2) understand the variation in the implementation of participant direction across families; and 3) assess what aspects of implementation predict family well-being and child progress.
