Project Title

Project Title

To study the relationship between decreased hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and glutamate excitotoxicity in autistic children

Principal Investigator

Principal Investigator

Russo, A.J.

Description

Description

The MET gene variant exists in the genome of a significant number of autistic individuals. It facilitates the signaling of its ligand, hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/scatter factor, and is involved in peripheral organ development and repair, immune function and gastrointestinal repair. This study measures HGF serum levels in autistic children, particularly those with GI disease.
