Description

Description

The outcome of the FAST-AS initiative is expected to lead to an enhanced understanding of underlying mechanisms and development of innovative pharmacological treatment approaches for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This initiative seeks to expeditiously test and analyze novel pharmacological interventions and their molecular and/or clinical targets for treating the core features of ASD such as social engagement, rigidity or inflexibility. Of particular interest are features of ASD that are not typically identified as the primary target of current clinical therapeutics, and both new compounds and ones that have been FDA-approved for other purposes are being considered. The primary objectives of this contract are to expeditiously perform small-scale single-site or multisite clinical trials to demonstrate clinical/molecular target engagement, safety, and efficacy of such promising interventions in children/adolescents/adults with ASD, or a disorder with clinical dimensions of psychopathology associated with ASD.
