Project Title

A comparison of mixed and multiple schedules for the treatment of pica

Principal Investigator

Principal Investigator

Sassi, Jess

Description

Description

The purpose of this study is to assess whether a Differential Reinforcement of Alternative behavior procedure (teaching an exchange of inedible items for edible items) for pica is effective without response blocking (physically preventing the participant from ingesting the inedible item). If not, (that is, if you must include blocking as part of the initial treatment), we evaluated whether the schedule of response blocking and reinforcement for item exchange could be faded while still maintaining low rates of pica. Fading procedures included conditions with signals for when reinforcement and blocking were in effect (the multiple schedule condition) to conditions without signals (the mixed schedule condition). Data to be presented at ABAI 2018
