While individuals with ASD acquire many skill sets in their repertories, they often have difficulties advocating for themselves and problem solving through situations when an item is missing to complete a given task. In this study, participants will be videotaped completing three different tasks in which a necessary item will be missing. Participants will view a video model and use a corresponding check list to problem solve how to find the missing item and self-advocate for themselves when they cannot find the item. The purpose of this study is to combine checklists and video modeling to teach individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) self-advocacy and problem solving skills when an item is missing from the environment.
