The purpose of this study is to combine video feedback and self-monitoring to improve social pragmatics within social conversations for adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While some individuals with ASD learn to engage in conversational volleys, they often have difficulties with social pragmatics including eye contact, gestures, and topic maintenance. In this study, participants will be videotaped during conversations. Participants will view the videotapes, and will be given constructive feedback by the experimenter during playback. Additionally, participants will be asked to monitor their own behavior using a checklist during video playback. Results of this study will provide an alternative method for teaching social conversation skills to individuals with ASD.
