Instructional fading and the building of cooperation with medical procedures |

DescriptionDescription |
Some children with autism have difficulty cooperating with medical procedures, and in some cases, severe problem behavior may result. We have found that with the careful and gradual fading in of instructions and other components of these procedures, students can learn to tolerate and cooperate with health-related procedures that have at one time been aversive. This fading-in process is designed in such a way that the student experience minimal stress. In this study, we will compare two parameters of fading -- duration and proximity. |
