Teaching children with autism to learn by listening -- Assessment and treatment of challenges in auditory discrimination |
Principal InvestigatorPrincipal Investigator |
Dickson, Chata |
DescriptionDescription |
Some children with autism struggle to learn about sounds and spoken language. This can be true even for children who perform well in tasks that depend upon attending to visual stimuli. This project aims to identify correlates of difficulty with auditory discrimination, to develop a quick screening tool for identification of students who may benefit from specific teaching procedures designed to remediate this problem of learning, and to develop a curriculum that will lead to better recognition of and responding to sounds and words. |
