DescriptionDescription |
This project represents the addition of a new site to the Preclinical Autism Consortium for Therapeutics (PACT), a focused preclinical target selection and prosecution effort to de-risk the discovery and development of medicines aimed at treating the core diagnostic symptoms of autism. Studies at this site will evaluate different rat models with genetic mutations associated with autism to provide strong, replicable, corroborative behavioral and physiological phenotypes relevant to the symptoms of autism observed in patient populations. The project will identify robust phenotypes that may then be employed to evaluate selected compounds for symptom reversal. Demonstrating efficacy in multiple rodent models and standardized tests will increase confidence in specific pharmacological mechanisms of action for autism clinical trials. |
