FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018 (the Act) was signed into law on Friday, October 5, 2018. This act reauthorizes funding for the FAA for five years and includes new laws on issues related to disabilities. The new act increases penalties for bodily harm to airline passengers with disabilities or damage to wheelchairs and mobility aids, requires the establishment of an advisory committee on the needs of passengers with disabilities, requires the TSA to revise its training for screening passengers with disabilities, and requires the creation of an "Airline Passengers with Disabilities Bill of Rights," which must be written in plain language.
