Repository for tissues from children with and without autism  

The project will assist with management and maintenance of the Digestive Function Tissue repository at the Massachusetts General Hospital. It contains tissues from individuals with autism and typical controls with gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. Tissue samples represent a good source of material for current and future research, and funding will be used to reduce shortages of storage space and equipment Project Status

Support at least four research projects to identify mechanisms of metabolic and/or immune system interactions with the central nervous system that may underlie the development of ASD during prenatal-postnatal life by 2010. IACC Funding Budget: $9,800,000 over 4 years.
