International Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Research Training Program

This grant supports the International Clinical, Operational, and Health Services Research Training Award (ICOHRTA), which is a training program for international research clinicians in psychiatry, psychology, pediatrics, and genetics. This collaborative program involves US institutions in partnership with two leading Major Foreign Country (MFC) institutions in Ankara, Turkey. The major goal is the enhancement of research in mental health and developmental disabilities (MHDD) in Turkey, an ICOHRTA eligible middle income developing country with a youthful population. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately 12% of the population in developing countries is disabled, with mental disabilities accounting for half of all disabilities in the 4-18 year old age group.
