Training school psychologists as specialists in the inclusion of students with autism  

The purpose of this project is to increase the numbers of well-trained school psychologists who have expertise in facilitating inclusion for students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The project proposes a comprehensive preservice training program to provide didactic and experiential activities that will enable trainees to display competence in best practice functional assessment, intervention, and inclusion activities The project will offer trainees direct service experiences in classrooms for students with ASD and extensive consultation experience with general education teachers for the purpose of facilitating inclusion of students with ASD in general education classrooms and activities. As inclusion consultants, trainees will acquire skills in system consultation and in building system capacity for inclusion of students with ASD. Project Status
