Friendship Circle: Play therapy program at LifeTown  

The Friendship Circle (FC) is an organization that is dedicated to providing assistance to the families of children with special needs, and to individuals and families struggling with addiction, isolation and other crises. Any child that needs assistance in creating and maintaining friendship as a result of certain conditions and circumstances is welcome to participate in Friendship Circle programs. The proposed two-year Play Therapy program (PT) will develop a large cadre of professionally trained PT volunteers who will assist the target population of children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy and downs syndrome measurably improve (i.e., increased utility or functionality of) therapeutic play activities and thereby measurably improve the lives of their families. Evaluation plan activities will commence during the first quarter of the program, developing a set of measurement tools; begin first year measurement of interim success during the fourth quarter; and issue an interim evaluation report within 90 days of the first year's conclusion. The second-year evaluation activities will duplicate first year activities as described and a final comprehensive evaluation report will be issued within 90 days of the PT project's conclusion.
