Collaboration of Autism Specialists Training (COAST) Program

This project will create and maintain a collaborative interdisciplinary training program in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) leading to certification in ASD. The aim is to train 100 well-qualified Master's level participants in collaboration with faculty from special and regular education, school psychology, school counseling, and speech-language pathology in order to make a significant impact on the quality of ongoing services for students with ASD and their families. Project activities include: (a) recruit well-qualified participants, including students from traditionally underrepresented groups; (b) retain these students and provide training across disciplines in order to enhance their knowledge and skills in the Autism Certificate Program; (c) apply a focus of training on meeting the unique needs of students with ASD (and their families) from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; (d) provide financial support through tuition reimbursement; and (e) provide fieldwork and mentorships within and across disciplines.
