Neurodevelopmental biology and gender differences in autism

The purpose of this study is to get behavioral, psychiatric, cognitive, developmental, and biologic information about young children with and without autism spectrum disorders. This work is expected to result in pilot data that will support the feasibility of a more comprehensive assessment and intervention application. Specific aims include the comparison of oxytocin and vasopressin baselines in prepubertal individuals with autism to healthy controls and to explore gender differences and to explore if children with autism have the same cortisol variation over the course of a morning as healthy control children that completed the same protocol.
